Zayn Drops New Single ‘Better’ & Mafia-Vibe Music Video

Zayn decided to make our quarantine a bit more manageable. The former One Direction vocalist dropped his single “Better” on September 25th and the music video just a few days after he welcomed his daughter with supermodel Gigi Hadid into this *crazy* world. You can watch the video here.

The single is the first to be released from his unnamed upcoming album, which fans dubbed “Z3”. Zayn hasn't said much about his third LP, but he told the Rolling Stone it was his "most personal project to date.” His last album, “Icarus Falls” released on December 14th, 2018 and featured 29 songs, including "Let Me” and "Still Got Time” featuring PARTYNEXTDOOR. The songs on “Icarus Falls” were personal, but not as much. After listening to Better, I believe Z3 is going to be darker and have more of a lullaby-vibe. I do think it will be much more romantic than his last 2 albums, but we are just going to have to wait and see!

The song itself is classic Zayn vibes - moody and personal alongside his incredible vocals. Zayn has fallen for a woman, who fans speculate is Gigi, and no longer wants to be just friends or even friends with benefits. The rest of the song is just as personal and romantic. It's a classic story of love and heartbreak, but with a Zayn twist.

The video, directed by Ryan Hope, premiered September 24th and quickly gained millions of views in just a few hours. It begins with a shirtless, tattooed Zayn, who is obviously looking for something or someone (I won't spoil it) and follows him as he gets dressed in a beautiful navy suit. It's extremely personal and emotional. The video ends with Zayn leaving his bedroom, which he had been in the entire video, and leaves the viewer craving more. It's a movie that ended suddenly; you NEED to know what happened next.

As of now, Better is currently ranked #89 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, but it definitely deserves to be higher!

Go stream it on Spotify, YouTube, Apple Music, and other streaming services!
