Ashton Irwin, from the band 5 Seconds of Summer, released his new single from his upcoming solo album. “Have U Found What Ur Looking For?” is the latest track after “Skinny Skinny” was released on September 23rd.
At this point, it is not a secret anymore that Irwin is extremely talented. Since 2011 Irwin has played the drums for 5 Seconds of Summer and has had a few solos in the band’s six albums. His two singles shed light on Irwin’s struggles and personal life.
“Skinny Skinny” exposes Irwin’s struggle with an eating disorder and body dysmorphia. “When writing “Skinny Skinny” I first thought of myself, and many other young people's struggles with body image and particularly body dysmorphia,” He wrote in an Instagram caption following the single's release.
“Have U Found What Ur Looking For?” is about his mental health and facing your fears. The 26-year-old posted on his Instagram the cover of his latest single and states “This song is about overcoming mental resistance, and facing every fear you’ve ever had.” The song starts with a melancholic tone that sets the mood for the rest of the song. Ashton expresses his emotions through his lyrics and the way he sings each note.
